[Problem] To provide a photoacoustic image generation device and an insert that make it possible to verify the position of the insert in a photoacoustic image even when an insert capable of injecting a liquid is pierced into a position far from the surface of a subject. [Solution] A hollow tube (155) is inserted through an inner cavity of a puncture needle body (151) having said inner cavity inside and an opening. The hollow tube (155) houses a light-guiding member (152) inside and has a light-absorbing member on the tip part. A base part (156) has a fluid inlet (157) and a chamber (158) that connects the inlet (157) to inner cavity of the puncture needle body (151). The diameter of the inner cavity of the puncture needle body (151) is larger than the outer diameter of the hollow tube (155). It is possible to allow the fluid intoduced into the inlet (157) to flow out of the opening of the puncture needle body (151), through the chamber (158) and the space between the inner cavity of the puncture needle body (151) and the hollow tube (155). |
