[Also in Division F1] A power hinge assembly for heavy doors or folding hatch covers comprises two power driven shafts in their respective housings either the shafts or housings being coupled together and their respective housings or shafts secured to the hinged structures. Fig. 2 shows two rotary actuators 21 secured together by plate members 22, the shafts 23 being attached to the hatch cover 15 and deck 18 through brackets 24. In an alternative arrangement the housings 31' are attached to the hinged structures and the shafts 33' are coupled against relative rotation by a plate 32. The power drive for rotation of the shaft is supplied by an oscillating vane unit and control circuit as dipicted diagramatically in Fig. 7, 8 (not shown). The assembly may also be used for operating doors in a wall or bulkhead. |
