PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mold cleaning method and apparatus for removing a rubber composition adhering to a cavity surface while preventing wear, scratches, deformation and the like of the mold.SOLUTION: A method for cleaning a tire mold 2 according to the present invention includes the steps of: (1) heating the tire mold 2 to deteriorate a rubber composition adhering to a cavity surface 10 of the mold 2; and (2) spraying a polishing agent 26 on the cavity surface 10 to remove the rubber composition from the cavity surface 10. The heating temperature of the mold 2 is preferably 150°C or more, and more preferably 200°C or more, and the heating temperature is 360°C or less. The heating time of the mold 2 is preferably 2 hours or more. |
