PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine, capable of inhibiting erroneous determinations of compression release from being continuously made.SOLUTION: An electronic control device as the control device for the internal combustion engine, which includes a determination part for determining whether the acceleration of a crank shaft at a compression top dead center is not smaller than a threshold value, or not, and for, when determining that it is not smaller than the threshold value, determining compression release, makes a determination that the compression release occurs in each cylinder of the internal combustion engine. When the acceleration of the rotation of the crank shaft at the compression top dead center is produced continuously specified times over the plurality of cylinders (Step S204: YES), the electronic control device prohibits the determination of the compression release based on the behavior of the rotating speed of the crank shaft (Step S205). |
