Certain embodiments described herein relate to expandable, reversible implants. In an embodiment, the implants are controllable by way of at least one biochemical, chemical, or physical means. In an embodiment, the implants are programmable and/or pre-programmed for a particular level of expansion and/or contraction. In an embodiment, the implants are controlled remotely from a control source that is external to the subject's body.

1. A system comprising:
at least one implantable device including a receiver responsive to at least one initiation signal; circuitry configured for determining a reversible adjustment in configuration of the implantable device in response to the at least one initiation signal, and generating a configuration signal; at least one adjustable member operably coupled to the circuitry and responsive to the configuration signal, the adjustable member configured to change the implantable device from a first configuration to at least one second configuration; wherein the receiver is responsive to at least one reversion signal; and circuitry configured for determining a reversion to the first configuration of the implantable device in response to the at least one reversion signal and generating a reversal signal; wherein the at least one adjustable member operably coupled to the circuitry is responsive to the reversal signal to return the implantable device from the at least one second configuration to the first configuration.
