The purpose of the present invention is to provide a heat storage material which enables cooling utilizing latent heat at two different phase change temperatures. This heat storage material comprises: water; a hydrocarbon compound that forms a clathrate hydrate together with some of the water at a temperature of 0°C or more; and an inorganic compound that lowers the phase change temperature of the rest of the water to less than 0°C. Tetrahydrofuran, cyclohexane or a quaternary ammonium salt, which undergoes hydrophobic hydration with water, is used as the hydrocarbon compound in the heat storage material. In addition, a normal salt such as potassium chloride and sodium chloride, an acidic salt such as potassium hydrogen carbonate and sodium hydrogen carbonate, or a basic salt such as ammonium chloride hydroxide is used as the inorganic compound in the heat storage material. |
