Polychromatic light sources of white light, which have spectral power distributions composed of at least three different components, such as clusters of coloured light-emitting diodes (LEDs) or LEDs with partial or complete conversion in phosphors. Disclosed are the peak wavelengths and relative partial radiant fluxes of the spectral components that allow rendering certain fractions of an extended colour palette with high fidelity and with increased chromatic saturation, respectively, and hence meeting subjective preferences to colour quality of illumination. |
