<p>The objectives of the present invention are to reduce the fluctuation of size of a droplet and to correct the variation of droplet speed. A droplet discharge device comprises a droplet discharge head which is provided with a plurality of nozzles, a plurality of pressure chambers communicated with the nozzles, and a plurality of pressure generation means for changing the capacities of the pressure chambers by applying drive signals. The drive signal includes an expansion pulse to expand the capacity of the pressure chamber, and a contraction pulse to contract the capacity of the pressure chamber. The plurality of nozzles are divided into a plurality of groups, each group comprising one or more nozzles. The drive signals are applied to the droplet discharge head to discharge droplets, wherein drive voltage values of the expansion pulses are set to a common value among the groups, and drive voltage values of the contraction pulses are independently set in accordance with the droplet speed with respect to each of the groups.</p> |
