<p>The invention relates to a wind energy plant and an operating method for a wind energy plant having a rotor, a generator (3) driven thereby, with a converter (4) for supplying electrical power to a network via a connecting line (7) and a control device (5), the control device (5) having a converter control (6), designed to control a reactive power fraction of the power following a condition value. According to the invention, a primary control module (62) is provided to output a set reactive power (Q), designed for a current based determination of the reactive power (Q) based on a current flow measurement (I). By means of the determination of the reactive power from just or overwhelmingly from the current instead of the voltage or the power, advantages can be combined regarding simpler convertibility with network compatibility.
