In a common rail diesel engine, with regard to respective reaction forms of a gasification reaction, a low-temperature oxidation reaction, a thermal decomposition reaction, and a high-temperature oxidation reaction of fuel injected into a cylinder, an ideal heat generation rate waveform model is produced, which is made up of an isosceles triangle, in which, with a reaction start temperature as a reference point, a gradient of an oblique side represents a reaction velocity, and an area represents a reaction amount, and a length of a base represents a reaction period, and the ideal heat generation rate waveform of each reaction form is produced by smoothing the ideal heat generation rate waveform model by means of filter processing. When the ideal heat generation rate waveform of each reaction is compared with the actual heat generation rate waveform obtained based on in-cylinder pressure detected in terms of each actual reaction form, and there exists a reaction form in which its deviation is equal to or higher than a predetermined amount, it is diagnosed that abnormality occurs in the reaction form.
|
