REFERRING TO CELLS USING HEADER CELL VALUES

Referring to cells using header cell values is disclosed. In some embodiments, a header cell value of a header cell is allowed to be used to refer to one or more other cells that are associated with the header cell. The header cell may be included in a header row or column included in a table. A header row cell value may be employed to refer to one or more other cells in a corresponding column, and a header column cell value may be employed to refer to one or more other cells in a corresponding row.

1. A method comprising:
receiving, via a processor, a selection of a first line header cell in a table comprising a first line of cells that includes the first line header cell and a plurality of first body cells and a second line of cells that is parallel to the first line of cells, wherein the second line of cells includes a second line header cell and a plurality of second body cells, wherein a second line name is in the second line header cell; receiving, via the processor, an entry of a formula into the selected first line header cell, wherein the formula comprises the second line name as an argument of the formula; and entering, via the processor, a modified formula into the first body cells, wherein the modified formula comprises the formula entered into the first line header cell but for which the second line name is replaced by a reference to a corresponding second body cell in the same row as the first body cell.
