Disclosed is a device for searching for a name by using bloom filter pre-searching and a method thereof. A method for searching for a name by using a name prefix trie (NPT) made of a plurality of levels, comprises the following steps of: searching for a content name by a bloom filter generated per level of NPT; and searching for the content name in a hash table corresponding to the bloom filter based on the search result of the bloom filter.
