[Also in Division B5] Tear strips are cut from a web 25 by the coaction of a fixed cutter 1 and a movable cutter 2, and are then transferred to a rotating roller 3 where they are attached to a web 24 of wrapping material, for example by means of a heating member 26. In the form shown after cutting from the web which is fed longitudinally along the fixed cutter 1, parallel to the axis of rotation of the roller 3, each strip is held on the movable cutter 2 by suction. The movable cutter 2 is subsequently moved vertically downwards on arms 11, to place the tear strip into contact with the roller 3, where it is held by suction, the attachment to the cutter 2 being released at this point by a control duct 7 on the cutter 2 being disconnected from a suction chamber 9 in a stationary control member 8 and communicating with the surrounding atmosphere. The wrapping material 24 is guided around the roller 3 in contact with the cut-off tear strip and the heating member 26, by means of guide rollers 22, 23. |
