The present invention is to obtain a hydrolyzate having excellent physical and biological functions from kelp by using a subcritical water hydrolyzing process. According to a method of the present invention, a solvent which is not harmful to the human body and a suitable catalyst, if needed, are used, so a hydrolyzate of kelp has antihypertensive properties, antibactieral activities, oxidation stability, and stable physical properties. Reaction time is short, and a process is simple, so a complicated process caused by a conventional chemical or catalytic treating method, environmental pollution, and limitation of technical application may be relieved. Moreover, a kelp hydrolyzate obtained according to the present invention has excellent biological activities and physical properties, so the kelp hydrolyzate is expected to be used as a functional food, medical raw ingredient, cosmetic material, or a biomaterial for improving health functionality. |
