A three way flow regulator which divides a pressurized inlet flow D into a flow of constant magnitude, directed into an outlet 10 having a servo-motor of a tractor steering gear connected to it, and into a residual flow, directed into a second outlet 9 having a power lift device connected to it, has a tubular hollow control member 3 disposed within a bore 2 into which the inlet and two outlets open. The control member is biased into its uppermost position by a spring 5, has formed within its interior a valve seat 15 engageable by a spring loaded valve disc 16, carries a diaphragm 14 and is in open communication with the outlet 10 by bores 13 formed in its wall. Fluid flow to the first outlet 10 is regulated by the relative disposition of edges 10d and 12a. An increase in the inlet pressure resulting from an increase in the output from a pump driven by the tractor engine, results in a downward movement of the control member and hence delivery of fluid to both outlets. Upon the pressure within outlet 9 being reduced, as by locking of the lifting device, the control member rapidly moves to the position shown so preventing a pressure loss in outlet 10, this movement being uninhibited as upon commencement of this movement, member 16 becomes unseated and so prevents the formation of a vacuum in chamber 6.</p> |
