Apparatus for measuring the concentration of an electrolyte in an electro-chemical generatorcell comprises two measuring-electrodes across which a charging voltage is applied to operate them on the substantially horizontal portion of the voltage/current density curve, while their voltage difference is measured. As illustrated in Fig. 1 (not shown) the current densities for the positive and negative electrodes are different at the horizontal parts of their curves. This may be achieved by using different area electrodes or by an intermediate (auxiliary) electrode so that different charging currents may be passed through the two measuring electrodes. Different amplitude voltages may be used, or one or both the supplies may be pulsed, the amplitude or width of the pulses being varied to produce the required current density, Figs. 4. .7 (not shown). |
