Provided is an elastic wave device utilizing piston mode and achieving a decrease in size. An elastic wave device (1) comprises an IDT electrode (3) in an intersecting region of which lower sound velocity portions (3B1, 3B2) are disposed on both sides of an IDT center portion (3A), with higher sound velocity portions (3C1, 3C2) being disposed on the outside in an electrode finger direction of the lower sound velocity portions (3B1, 3B2), thereby enabling the use of piston mode. The width of the higher sound velocity portions (3C1, 3C2) at the ends in an elastic wave propagation direction is made narrower than the width of the higher sound velocity portions (3C1, 3C2) at the center in the elastic wave propagation direction of the IDT electrode (3). |
