A pickup device 22 for picking up an object 24 includes a sensing system 60, 62 that is configured to sense the position and/or size of an object, a pick-up mechanism 26 engageable with opposite sides of the object and operable to lift the object, and a control unit that is configured to position the pick-up mechanism 26 relative to object 24 based on signals received from the sensing system 60, 62 prior to picking-up the object. Also included is a bale wrapper device for wrapping an agricultural bale having the aforementioned sensing system and wherein the sensing system may be configured to sense the length and/or height of the bales and the control unit may be configured to halt the operation of the mechanism if the length/height is outside predetermined limits. |
