An embodiment of the present invention is a method to initially charge a storage battery of a hybrid excavator. The hybrid excavator comprises: an engine; an electrical generation device mechanically connected to a driving shaft of the engine; the storage battery storing electric energy generated by the electric generation device; an inverter converting the electric energy of an alternating current type, generated by the electric generation device, into an electric energy of a direct current type to be supplied to the storage battery; and a power blocking device connecting the inverter and the storage battery. The method to initially charge the storage battery of the hybrid excavator comprises: a step of detecting a voltage of the inverter and the voltage of the storage battery in a state where the engine is rotated at an idle speed; a step of determining a time period of permissive electric current applying where an initial charge resistance resists when a difference between the voltage of the detected storage battery and the voltage of the inverter is greater than or equal to the permissive voltage difference of the initial charge resistance of an interior of a power blocking device, and turning on a charge relay connected to the initial charge resistance in series during a determined period of applying the permissive electric current; and a step of determining the continuous permissive electric current applying by an initial charge resistance when the difference between the voltage of the storage battery and the voltage of the inverter is smaller than a permissive voltage difference of the initial charge resistance of the interior of the power blocking device, and turning on the initial charge relay during a predetermined period while controlling the voltage of the inverter to allow a determined and continuous permissive electric current to uniformly flow. |
