PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a collimator having input and output of a multiple core.SOLUTION: A collimating sub system 20 comprises: a single mode multiple core fiber (MCF) 30; and a collimator assembly 40 having end faces 41a connected to corresponding end faces 30a of the MCF 30 respectively. The collimator assembly 40 further comprises: a single mode taper (SMT) 41 formed of clads for surrounding each of the plural single mode cores corresponding to individual cores of the MCF 30; and a GRIN lens array 42 serving as a multiple mode MCF fiber having clads for surrounding each of plural refractive index distribution type (GRIN) multiple mode cores corresponding to individual cores of the SMT 41. The taper-shape of the SMT 41, the GRIN lens array 42 has a lens-lens interval larger than a core-core interval of the MCF 30, and outputs a parallel light signal at an output end 42b. |
