<p>Abstract The present invention relates to a blade (1) for a rotor of a turbine, the blade comprising an airfoil (2) and a platform (3) at the inner end of the airfoil (2), wherein the platform (3) comprises a top plate (12) adjacent to the airfoil (2) and a shank (13) below the top plate (12). An improved mechanical property of the blade (1) can be achieved, when a downstream wall (20) and/or an upstream wall (19) of the blade (1) is provided with at least one recess (21) penetrating one of the said walls (19, 20) along the axial direction.
