PURPOSE:To obtain the titled easily sinterable raw material powder capable of providing a sintered body having superior characteristic at high temp. and high strength being suitable as material for high strength heat resistant member, high corrosion resistant member, etc., by crushing an alloy of metallic Si with a metal of the group IIIa of the periodic table and nitriding the alloy in reducing atmosphere contg. N2. CONSTITUTION:An alloy obtd. by melting a mixture of metallic Si powder and 0.1-30atm% metal of the group IIIa of the periodic table (e.g. Y, La) is crushed and the product is nitrided while controlling the temp. at 1,300-1,400 deg.C reaction temp. in the presence of gaseous N2 or gaseous N2 and NH3. Thus, silicon nitride contg. said group IIIa metal dispersed in Si atom in the level of atom and having low residual Si content is formed, which is pulverized. |
