It is possible to provide a power conserving, low cost, high-capacity light transmission/reception system using a light modulator characterized by being provided with a light guide path, which guides light, an electrode pad, which is for electrical connection, and a light phase modulation region, which modulates the phase of light guided by the light guide path, the light phase modulation region being configured from the light guide path, of which at least a portion is curved, and the electrode pad, which has a smaller size than the area of the region encircled by the curved light guide path and a straight line linking the two ends in the lengthwise direction of the curved light guide path, and a plurality of the light phase modulation region being disposed arranged along the direction of light progress. |
