An automatic cash transaction device (1) has: an identification unit (18) that reads the serial numbers of banknotes and identifies the condition thereof; a reject depository (28) that houses banknotes identified as being abnormal by the identification unit (18) during a deposit transaction in a manner separated from banknotes identified as being normal; a storage unit (30) that stores the serial numbers of the banknotes identified as being abnormal by the identification unit (18) in a reject banknote serial number list; and a control unit (12) that compares the serial numbers listed in the reject banknote serial number list and non-withdrawable banknotes that are banknotes identified as being abnormal by the identification unit (18) during a withdrawal transaction, and when a serial number of a non-withdrawable banknote matches a serial number listed in the reject banknote serial number list, causes the withdrawal of the non-withdrawable banknote. |
