Provided are an ultrasonic diagnosis apparatus capable of effectively measuring the volume of an object and a method thereof. The ultrasonic diagnosis apparatus may include a data acquisition part which obtains ultrasonic image data for an object which includes a target bone for the purpose of diagnosis; and an image processing part which obtains first information about at least one among the position and length of the target bone in an ultrasonic image based on volume data included in the ultrasonic image data, obtains the boundary surface of soft tissue adjacent to the target bone based on the first information, and obtains automatically the internal volume of the boundary surface of the soft tissue.
