The present invention relates to a liquid crystal display device and a production method thereof. According to the present invention the liquid crystal display device can be produced by the following steps: forming an alignment liquid on at least on substrate among a first substrate and a second substrate, wherein the alignment liquid is composed of a alignment agent, a reactive mesogen, and a solvent; forming a main alignment layer by hardening the alignment liquid; forming a liquid crystal layer between the first substrate and the second substrate; eluting the reactive mesogen in the main alignment layer into the liquid crystal layer by applying heat to the main alignment layer and the liquid crystal layer; and reacting the same with the reactive mesogen by supplying light onto the liquid crystal layer.
