<p>A boat 10 is disclosed having a first tank system 22A and 22B for containing a first liquid such as fuel and a second tank system 30A and 30B for containing a second liquid such as water. The three-dimensional centroid of the volume contained by each tank system (25, 31, Fig 2) up to a particular horizontal level in that tank system is substantially aligned vertically with the centre of gravity (12, Fig 2) of the boat. Therefore, when the first and second liquids are at those particular levels, their weights act through the centre of gravity of the boat and do not tend to cause the boat to pitch or heel compared with when the tank systems are empty. More preferably, the two-dimensional centroid of the area enclosed by each of the tank systems at substantially any horizontal section through that tank system is substantially aligned vertically with the centre of gravity of the boat. Accordingly, the weights of the liquids in both tank systems act through the centre of gravity of the boat, whatever the amounts of liquids in the tank systems.</p> |
