The present invention relates to a cell therapeutic composition including mesenchymal stem cells, which have been treated with an STAT3 inhibitor, as an active ingredient for preventing or treating immune diseases. The mesenchymal stem cells treated with an STAT3 inhibitor according to the present invention are characterized by: being capable of effectively suppressing the expression and production of inflammatory cytokines and inflammation inducing agents in mesenchymal stem cells; having an effect of inhibiting the differentiation of T cells into cytotoxic Th17 and Th1 cells during co-culture with undifferentiated T cells under a disease-causing condition; and having an excellent effect of promoting differentiation and activity of immunoregulatory T cells (Treg) having the properties of suppressing a function of abnormally activated immunological cells and controlling an inflammatory response. Thus, the mesenchymal stem cells treated with an STAT3 inhibitor can be used as a cell therapeutic composition capable of preventing or treating immune diseases such as auto-immune diseases, inflammatory diseases and graft rejection caused by a disorder in regulating various immune responses.
