A system and a method for encoding and decoding stereoscopic images are described. A stereoscopic image comprises at least two sub-images arranged according to a first configuration and intended for a user's right eye and left eye, respectively. During the video signal post-production stage, a chromatic code is embedded which in adapted to provide information about said configuration. At receiver level, decoding means (14) are used which are adapted to receive said stereoscopic image, recognise the configuration of said at least two sub-images based on information embedded into said stereoscopic image, and arrange said at least two sub-images according to a second predetermined configuration. |
