1. A display apparatus comprising:
a video receiver which receives a compressed video signal; a display unit; a connector which is connected to an external upgrade signal processing module; and a processor which transmits the compressed video signal to the external upgrade signal processing module such that the external upgrade signal processing module decompresses the compressed video signal, receives the decompressed video signal from the external upgrade signal processing module, generates a graphic signal related to the received decompressed video signal, synthesizes the decompressed video signal with the graphic signal to form a synthesis signal and controls the display to display an image based on the synthesis signal.
