The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for train operation protection, and more specifically, to an apparatus and a method for train operation protection which comprise a wireless communication unit, using a time division method to transmit and receive information among a plurality of trains. By using the wireless communication unit, the train protection apparatus and method transmit destination information, location information, and a length of each train and operation information including accident information; consider driving information of a nearby train received by each train; generate a warning or brake to secure a safe distance if a distance between the trains or a distance from a train involved in an accident is shorter than or equal to a prescribed reference value. The apparatus according to the present invention comprises: a navigation unit to control operation of a concerned train based on navigation information; a wireless communication unit to transmit a signal including operation information of the concerned train or receive a signal including operation information of a nearby train; a control unit to calculate a distance between the concerned train and the nearby train based on the operation information of the concerned train and the operation information of the nearby train; and a warning and braking unit to generate a prescribed warning signal or put a break on the concerned train if the distance between the concerned train and the nearby train is shorter than or equal to a prescribed reference value. The wireless communication unit distributes a series of time slots divided into prescribed time period units to the trains to transmit and receive a signal including operation information of each train. |
