PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the aesthetic quality of a light emitting device using a planar luminous body.SOLUTION: A light emitting device 20 includes: a planar luminous body 22; and a transparent member 24 which is disposed so as to cover the planar luminous body 22. The planar luminous body 22 includes: a light emitting part 41 which emits light in a planar shape; and a first non-light emitting part 42 and a second non-light emitting part 43 which are located adjacent to the light emitting part 41. The transparent member 24 includes first recessed parts 44 and second recessed parts 46 which are formed in portions facing the first non-light emitting part 42 and the second non-light emitting part 43 and have triangular cross sections.
