PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for setting an identification number in which the identification number is set in each outboard motor without the need for complex control in an engine control module, even if two or more outboard motors are attached to a hull.SOLUTION: An apparatus 10 is provided for setting identification numbers of two or more outboard motors attached to a hull. The apparatus includes two or more engine control modules 41A-41C included in the two or more outboard motors, and a keyless controller 307 for performing authentication processing for keyless control between the two or more engine control modules and itself. The keyless controller sets the identification numbers in the two or more engine control modules in the case of initial registration of the authentication information for authentication processing. |
