PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a graft copolymer capable of suppressing gelation and having high stability.SOLUTION: A graft copolymer is produced by grafting a polymer (D) having a double bond in the side chain, with a monomer (B), by utilizing a production method comprising a polymerization step for polymerizing the monomer (B) having a radically polymerizable unsaturated bond, in the presence of a thiocarbonyl-thio compound (A). Specifically, the method includes [1] a method for polymerizing the monomer (B) in the presence of a thiocarbonyl-thio compound (A) and a polymer (D) having a double bond in the side chain, and [2] a method comprising the polymerization step, and a step for reacting the polymerization product obtained by the polymerization step, with the polymer (D) having the double bond in the side chain, in the presence of a radical generator. |
