The invention relates to a method for producing mesoporous alumina comprising a) the suspension of at least one solid alumina precursor in an aqueous solution comprising at least one acid, b) the solid/liquid separation of said solid alumina precursor from step a), c) the dispersion of said solid alumina precursor from said step b) in a mixture of at least two solvents, d) the solid/liquid separation of said solid alumina precursor from step c), e) the drying of said solid alumina precursor from step d) to a temperature of between 20 and 250°C for between 30 minutes and 24 hours, and f) the calcification of the dried solid from step e) at a temperature of between 300 and 800°C for between 30 minutes and 10 hours in order to produce the alumina.
