The present invention provides: a magnetic resonance imaging device that is capable of acquiring an image that makes it possible to make a quantitative assessment of fat; and a method for creating a water-fat separation image. To this end, an echo signal that occurs during the application of a frequency-encoding gradient magnetic field to a positive electrode and an echo signal that occurs during the application of the frequency-encoding gradient magnetic field to a negative electrode are acquired during the same echo time, a correction amount for correcting the influence of reception frequency characteristics is determined from an echo signal for correcting the abovementioned pair of echo signals, and the correction amount is used to invert the polarity of the frequency-encoding gradient magnetic field and remove the influence of the reception frequency characteristics of acquired images of the positive electrode and the negative electrode. |
