The purpose of the present invention is to provide a torque detection device configured so that, even if utilizing a sensor such as a semiconductor strain sensor which tends to suffer from brittle fracture, the torque detection device can measure high torque while achieving reliability such that the sensor does not break. A torque detection device is provided with: a protrusion section (2) provided on the outer peripheral surface of a shaft member (1), the torque of which is to be measured; and a strain sensor (5) mounted on the protrusion section (2) and measuring strain. The protrusion section (2) is provided with: a mounting section (4) for mounting the strain sensor (5) thereon; and two connection sections (3) for connecting and affixing the opposite ends of the mounting section (4) to the outer peripheral surface of the shaft member (1) at two positions separated from each other in the axial direction of the shaft member (1). The mounting section (4) is provided at a distance from the outer peripheral surface of the shaft member (1). The strain sensor (5) is disposed offset toward one of the connection sections (3) from the center of the mounting section (4) in the axial direction. |
