A scaffold upright I is connected to e.g., and as shown, a diagonal bracing member 2 by a peg 4 with an handle 4a and a catch 5, the peg rotating under gravity after insertion so that the catch 5 lies behind a flange 3a of a member 3 which may be detachably fixed to the upright by a gudgeon 40 with holes 42 through which the peg passes (as shown), or may be welded thereto, (Figs. 1-4, not shown). The member 3 may be of short length suitable for one upright, or may be an elongate channel-(as shown), or I-sectioned stringer bean with one hole for each upright (Fig. 7, not shown), I-sectioned members 3 are employed where a further upright 1 is to be superimposed on, and connected to the first one, in which case a longer gudgeon 50 is employed (Fig. 6, not shown) with a pair of holes 52 at each end for two pegs 4, each of which co-operates with one part of one flange of the member 3. In scaffolding comprising parallel frames A,B,(Fig. 7, not shown), only some of the frames (A) are interconnected by diagonal bracing members in this way. |
