The present high strength duplex stainless steel rod contains, in mass%, C: 0.01-0.21%, Si: 0.05-3.2%, Mn: 0.1-15%, Ni: 0.5% to less than 5%, Cr: 10.0-25.0%, and N: 0.01-0.35%, with the remainder being obtained from Fe and unavoidable impurities. The metal structure has a multiphase structure configured from an α phase, a γ phase and a strain-induced α' phase, with the α phase being 20-70 vol%, the strain-induced α' phase being 5-50 vol%, and the α phase + strain-induced α' phase being at least 30 vol%. The amount of orientation of the [100] plane in the RD direction in the α phase and γ phase is at least 5%. Md30 in the γ phase is -15 - 45. F value is not more than -6.12 and SFE in the γ phase is -20 - 35. |
