PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a substrate counting method, a substrate counting program, and a substrate counter that make it possible to easily precisely count a substrate.SOLUTION: A substrate counting method includes the steps of: obtaining the image of the end surface of a plurality of sheets of substrates stacked in one direction; integrating the brightness of each of the pixels constituting the image for each of the rows of pixels in one direction orthogonal to the other in the image to calculate an integrated value; detecting the substrate in the image based on the integrated value; and counting the number of sheets of the detected substrate to obtain a count value.
