PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porphyrin detection method for accurately detecting porphyrin and its detector, and to provide a porphyrin display method capable of emphatically displaying the detected porphyrin on a face image and a porphyrin detector. SOLUTION: In the porphyrin detection method for detecting porphyrin by photographing a face in the state of irradiating it with ultraviolet rays, the porphyrin is detected by processing specified color components. Also, the porphyrin detector A includes an ultraviolet ray irradiation means for irradiating the face with the ultraviolet rays, a photographing means for photographing the face, a color component extraction part 40 for extracting the specified color component from the face image which is the image obtained by photographing the face by the photographing means in the state of being irradiated with the ultraviolet rays, a binarization processing part 41 for binarizing the extracted color component by a prescribed threshold, and a porphyrin detection part 42 for detecting the porphyrin by binarization processing.
