A lift comprises a frame 130, linkages 110, 120, 140 for raising and lowering a platform 160 and an under-ride 190 rotatably mounted to the frame 130 to act as a rear impact guard when the platform 160 is in a stowed position (fig 713). Under-ride 190 includes an under-ride bar (191 fig 7A) which may be coupled to frame 130 by plates (192 fig 7A) allowing the under-ride to rotate at the same point as lower arms 120. This transfers most or all of any impact force to under-ride 190 to frame 130 and not to lower arms 120. The plates (192 fig 7A) may include adjustment holes (194 fig 7A) which couple to lower arms 120 and allow under-ride 190 to be adjusted to a desired height. Under-ride 190 may also act as a synchronizing or balancing structure which minimizes binding or "walking" of upper arm 110 and lower arm 120 on each side of lift 100 as it is being operated. |
