PURPOSE: A portable terminal is provided to supplement the limited functionality of the existing portable terminal by installing add-in module besides the main body of the terminal. CONSTITUTION: The add-in module(200) accommodates the terminal(100) in a receiving portion(210). A connector(250) of the receiving portion is corresponded to a connector(260) of the terminal. The supplementary feature is offered through the connector to the terminal. The connector comprises a first pin, a second pin and a third pin. The first pin is used for the authentication of the add-in module through 1-Wire communication. In case the add-in module is authenticated, the second pin and the third pin are used for offering the supplementary feature by the serial communication with the add-in module.
