In an insert for thread cutting, a pair of cutting edge parts which project from the common edge parts of the front and rear surfaces of the insert body when viewed from the direction facing the front and rear surfaces are formed at the edge parts. On each of at least two of the four projecting surfaces of the pair of cutting edge parts directed to the front and rear surface sides, a thread cutting edge with the projecting surface serving as a rake face is formed.
