Method for operating a mechanical-biological waste treatment assembly with a process water circuit

The method involves supplying liquid (F) i.e. collected surface water, to a process water circuit (PWK) of a mechanical-biological waste treatment plant (MBA) depending on determined salt content (SZG) in process water (PW) and/or increasing addition of iron oxide as desulphurization agent, so as to reduce entry of salt from the process water into solid matter. The liquid is supplied to the process water circuit depending on determined nitrogen content (SSG) in the process water, so as to lower the nitrogen content in the process water for an operation of a fermentation device (FE).
