<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly precisely detect gas adsorbed on a magnetic recording medium. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A magnetic recording medium having a first lubricant layer formed on the surface thereof and a gas sensor are disposed in a housing. The gas sensor 20 detects gas by adsorbing the gas on a detection surface thereof.
