In a vehicle window assembly in which the pane 14 is secured to the metal window aperture surround 13 by e.g. a polysulphide rubber adhesive, an extruded moulding strip 16 e.g. of P.V.C. extends around the frame on one side of the pane 14 and is attached to the frame as by spaced spring clips 11 rivetted to the outer skin 12 which receive the flange 17 of the moulding strip, and this latter has a lip 19 which engages the pane and a lip 18 which engages the frame 12, both lips 18 and 19 being formed of P.V.C. which is more flexible than the material forming the remainder of the moulding strip. The strip may be extruded in a multi-head extruder and provided with an ornamental strip 28. A second moulding strip 21 may be provided on the inner side of the pane and has lips 25, 26, likewise of material more flexible than the body portion 21 which is secured by means of buttons 22 over which clip the sides of a groove 23 in the portion 21. Alternatively the lips and body portion may be of the same material with a strengthening insert plate 27 around the groove 23.</p> |
