PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication adaptor for updating an operation program by using one flash memory without increasing the capacity of an RAM. SOLUTION: This communication adaptor 10 is provided with: a household electrical appliance interface part 30 connected to a household electrical appliance; a transmission/reception part 32 for physical media connected to a home game way 16; an RAM 38; and a flash memory 40. The flash memory 40 is provided with: an operation file area 44 for storing an operation program; and an update file storage area 46 for storing the update file of the operation program. This communication adaptor is configured to, when receiving a file, determine whether or not the file is an update file, and to, when the file is the update file, develop the file in the update file storage area 46 of the flash memory without developing it in the RAM 38, and writes and stores the update file developed to the update file storage area 46 in the operation file area 44 for updating the operation program.
