PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect whether or not a pedometer is carried or not with a simple configuration without using a dedicated angle sensor, and to save electric power. SOLUTION: Two static acceleration sensors 107, 117 are arranged so that sensing axes mutually cross at right angles. A CPU 101 counts the number of steps on the basis of a dynamic acceleration signal received from the static acceleration sensors 107, 117. When static acceleration signal levels of both static acceleration sensors 107, 117 are lower than a predetermined level, the CPU 101 turns off the power of a display unit 108, and amplification circuits 106, 116 to save the electric power.
