PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of poor display to improve the quality and reliability of a liquid crystal display device by preventing impurity ions in a liquid crystal from penetrating an electrode interface. SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing an alignment layer includes: steps 1 to 3 of forming a polyimide film 2 on a surface of a glass substrate 1 and forming a polyimide alignment layer 2A by alignment layer treatment; steps 4 and 5 of coating a surface of the polyimide alignment layer 2A with an organic solution having a thermosetting resin dissolved in an organic solvent, and drying the organic solution to form a coating layer 3a; a step 6 of providing sealants 4 and spacer balls 5 on the surface of the glass substrate 1; and a sep 7 of assembling glass substrates 1 by adhesion and injecting a liquid crystal 6 between the glass substrates 1 and finally sticking polarizing plates 7 to outer sides of the glass substrates 1. The coating layer 3a is formed in order to prevent impurity ions in the liquid crystal 6 from coming into contact with electrodes formed on the glass substrates 1. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
